Rose Show in Santa Rosa

Each year on the first Saturday of May the Redwood Empire Rose Society, an affiliate of the American Rose Society, holds their Spring Rose Show.  It is always a wonderful display of local roses and a great deal of fun.  Barbara has been an active member since we first arrived in Sonoma County in 1997.  The Redwood Empire Rose Society or RERS as most of us call it was formed in 1965.  We meet the third Thursday of every month with some minor exceptions at the Luther Burbank Art and Garden Center on Yulupa Avenue in Santa Rosa.  Our website is http://www.geocities.com/rose_society/.

The Rose Show is a display of blooms,  bouquets and arrangements.  It is an array of color.  This year we had a fabulous public turn out which was very unexpected since we had rain.  I guess that people were looking for a dry place to spend some time.

Barbara won three trophies which was totally unexpected – Bouquet on a Pedestal, Old Garden Rose Bouquet and Mini Princess.  My garden is doing quite well for all of the rain and wind we have had lately.
